The concepts of "representation" and "handicap" are at the same time complex and difficult to circumscribe, because they polysemous and are studied by several disciplinary fields such as: philosophy, right, biology, economy, sociology, anthropology and psychology. To mention the problem of the handicap and its social representation, it is to put from the start the question of the glance carried about deficiency and especially about the person carrying this deficiency. The concept of representation in connection with the handicaps is approached here, according to two approaches: psycho-cognitive and psychosocial. This research thus relates to the representations of the handicap, worked out by various entourages of the handicapped people (parents, friends and professionals) and by people not directly concerned with the handicap, nor implied in direct interactions with the handicapped people. This binary distinction does not make forget the central place which the handicapped person itself in the process of analysis occupies. It is a question of updating the specific place which the Congolese company with the handicapped person makes, in reference to the physical handicap, sensory or mental deficiency, while taking of account the situation of its professional insertion and the sociocultural considerations traditional which always characterized this company. The data of this study were collected in Congo-Brazzaville, following the observations and investigations, by questionnaires and talks, were led to Brazzaville. Three working hypotheses are formulated: the first postulates a difference of the modes of representations of handicapped between the actors in permanent contact with the handicapped people and the actors without direct interactions with the same people. The second supposes that there exists a strong influence of the variables "profession" and "level of studies" on the methods of the representations of the handicaps. The third recommends the idea of a modification of the social perception of the phenomenon of handicap, under the influence of the changes economic, social, political and cultural. Data analysis by the technique of variance analysis, disabled person the first and the third assumption. On the other hand, the same technique of analysis consolidates the second assumption, confirming thus, the very significant influence of the variables "profession" and "level of studies" to the detriment of the criteria less influential "age" and "sex". The question of the handicapped personal identity remains central, if it is considered that lived of the handicapped people is determined by the representations of the handicap within the company. In Congo, there is not a representation of the handicap, it exists representations which vary according to the types of handicaps, of the experiment of the social actors, the relations or not with the people in situations of handicaps. The physical handicap or engine occupies a central position compared to the other types of handicaps. The physical handicap is thus the element more symbolic System and more handicapping handicapped condition. This centrality of the physical handicap is explained by the high rate of motor disabilities with Brazzaville, where two thirds of handicapped are it on the level of the lower extremities. The reality of the relations with the handicapped people does not constitute the single referent in the subjective developments of the representations of the people concerned with the handicap; those being subjected to other factors of a personal, social and cultural nature. Lastly, one notes a survalorisation of the attitudes and capacities of the people handicapped by themselves which would be explained by a strong feeling of regard of oneself, or by a good knowledge of their own capacities, marked by a mechanism of defence car-to affirm itself. In conclusion, a whole of proposals in order to help and to improve the accompaniment of the handicapped people is presented with details on the plans of: information, formation, the legislation, health, employment, economy, culture, the sport and leisures..Bibliography: Bibliogr..Thesis: .Subject - Topical Name: Handicapés, Congo (République démocratique) -- 183699 -- Psychologie Thèses et écrits académiques Online Resources:Click here to access online
